A Snarky View (vol 2)
Disclosure: Since the A-Rod Rockne Show is on hiatus until coach Akua29's financial demands are met, the powers-to-be has given the green light to "A Snarky View". This show will hopefully be a sarcastic view of things going on in Rockne. If you are thin-skin, please stop here before your feelings are hurt.
Before we get started, any coach who would like to fill in for the Smart Dog, please send a site mail to the unworthy author listed above. You may also include any topics that you would like to discuss with the Snarky Dog.
Smart Dog: Welcome everyone to A Snarky View. I'm the Smart Dog and your co-host with the star of the show, Snarky Dog. We made it past our debut show and got the green light for another edition.
Snarky Dog: We made it back because it was us or nothing, and we barely won that battle. What crap do you have for us today where I can give up my view on things.
Smart Dog: Hey, we weren't that bad. We even got some good, positive feedback.
Snarky Dog: What, are you kidding me. One coach responded back and Bigpoppa85 told you to stop sucking up so much to Long Island.
Smart Dog: I think you had the puppy love thing going on, but let's move on. Let's talk about how recruiting went.
Snarky Dog: I see your Valdosta State team had a well-earned 20th ranked class. With the way you going, VSU will soon be a bystander when the playoffs come calling.
Smart Dog: It didn't go as well as I liked but I'm switching some things around.
Snarky Dog: You can take some tips from coach Fazbear05. He came off his disappointing championship game loss with a highly impressive #2 class, right behind Long Island. In 11 seasons, North Alabama went from the 22nd ranked class to the 2nd ranked. I guess there is hope for VSU yet.
Smart Dog: Looking at the conference recruiting rankings, it is interesting that the top three conferences in recruiting are also the top three in overall roster ratings. Congratulations to the Gulf South, Northeast-10, and Great Lakes.
Snarky Dog: What caught my attention was the fact the Northern Sun pulled in a surprising #4 class with really just two coaches. A fantastic job by those SIM coaches.
Smart Dog: The regular season starts tonight. During the out of conference portion, we have eight games featuring top-25 teams.
Snarky Dog: That's it. I remember just a few seasons ago where there were three of four games on one night alone. What happened? Did all the coaches become scare to play top teams?
Smart Dog: Every coach and team is different. If you are in a tough conference, then you going to limit your possiblities for losses before conference play take a toll. On the other hand, if you are in a conference with all SIMs, then you would want to play a more challenging schedule. Then there are teams with new coaches that are building up their teams.
Snarky Dog: Big deal. Just give me good matchups. Coaches should play other coaches. It brings more interest to the season and the game. But we all know there are coaches out there that do their best to ignore the challenges. They are probably better off dropping back to D3.
Smart Dog: Since we do have those 8 matchups, who do you think will win those games.
Snarky Dog: Tonight, Fairmont St takes on Tusculum. Although coach Clememp was jinxed by the "Smart Dog", he will enjoy the confidence "Snarky Dog" has in Tusculum with them starting the season with a big win. After a night off, day three has two games with SAC's Presbyterian giving SAC its second win over Fairmont State. Elsewhere Virginia State welcomes New Mexico Highlands with a unsurprising win against a SIM team. Day 4 brings three games to the table as Northern Alabama swats away Tusculum, Northern Michigan trounces Edinboro, and Fairmont St loses again, this time to Virginia State. Then on day 5, Virginia State makes it three for three with a close win over Cheyney and Southern Connecticut St escapes with a last minute win over Shepherd.
Smart Dog: That's all for tonight. Hope you have red-shirt your three players and set your depth charts. Here's to a great season and may the best team hoist the trophy at the end.
