Game 1 of the Night - Season 140

Previous GotN Prediction: Tusculum 35 - Valdosta St 24

Result: Valdosta St 54 - Tusculum 21

Intro/comments/match-up: An unexpected result to the final preseason game. Without going into much detail, the "smart dog" still doesn't know what to expect from his team. He does have his game against North Alabama circled on the calendar and will be looking forward to see if Valdosta St can upset coach Fasbear05.

Before we get to tonight's game, I must mentioned my new contract with Akua29 provides me the option to skip a game here or there if there isn't a worthy match-up or more probable, a lack of time.

We are starting this season off with a top-12 match-up. These two teams have been facing off against each other for the last few seasons. With a new coach at one of the schools, will this series continue. Tonight's game has #12 Ferris State traveling east to take on #3 Cheyney.

Team: Ferris State

Coach: Cowboy90s # of Seasons: 1

Roster Breakdown:

Seniors: 6

Juniors: 14

Sophomores: 13

Freshmen: 17

Offensive Formations: All

Defensive Formations: All

Key Wins: N/A

Losses: N/A

Comments: I admit I know nothing about coach Cowboy90s. I don't think I have crossed paths with him with any of my teams. His record shows he has won 4 national championships while winning 1958 games. His team is the first I have seen since doing the GotN series where the coach runs ALL formations. It will be worth watching to see how that strategy works here in Rockne. He has taken over a team that has been flip-floppin from being eliminated in the second round to a team that advanced further. Additionally, the team looks like it has been slowly moving in the wrong direction. Coach will have some rebuilding to do and may have trouble making the playoffs this season while being led with red-shirt sophomores at both QB and RB.

Team: Cheyney

Coach: Waregl72 # of Seasons: 8

Roster Breakdown:

Seniors: 12

Juniors: 9

Sophomores: 14

Freshmen: 15

Offensive Formations: I

Defensive Formations: Nickel

Key Wins: N/A

Losses: N/A

Comments: Coach Waregl72 definitely is up to playing anyone. Not only does he have three top 12 teams on his out of conference schedule, he has already scheduled Long Island and Bloomsburg for next season. Wow, those are the type of games the "smart dog" enjoy reviewing. Cheyney keeps it up and they may own that portion of the GotN series. Ok, enough sucking up for now. Coach Waregl72 has come off consecutive third round knockouts after starting his tenure with four final four appearances. His roster looks solid across the board this season with one possible exception. He will be starting two sophomores on the OL with two more as backups along with a couple freshmen and a red-shirt freshman.

Tonight's Prediction: Past games between these two schools have been pretty competitive, but tonight's game has all the makings of a blowout. The "smart dog" fearless prediction has Cheyney winning comfortably 45-17.
