Rockne's Top Ten (Finale)
Another regular season has gone by, but we should have a heck of a postseason to enjoy. The fortunate coach that wins the National Championship will need to earn it by beating several top teams. Before we get to the final rankings of this season, just a reminder that the Rockne Top Ten will be back next season after game 5.
#10 (10) - Western New Mexico - won 65-10 over #29 Colorado-Mines. Team will struggle to get past the second round.
#9 (8-tied) - Virginia State - won 40-22 over #33 Bowie State. Team should make it into the third round.
#8 (5-tied) - Bloomsburg - won 49-28 over #26 East Stroudsburg. May be one season away to get past the third round.
#7 (8-tied) - Northern Michigan - won 76-3 over SIM. Talented team has the talent to win it all...coaching aptitude is unknown. Depending on which coaches are in the same bracket could be a big factor. Third round is the prediction here.
#6 (7) - Texas A&M-Commerce - Won 76-0 over #75 Abilene Christian. Not respected in the polls, but the pick here to win it all.
#4-tied (5-tied) - North Alabama - won 66-0 over SIM. Final eight, but will be hard to get past that point.
#4-tied (1-tied) - Long Island - Won 66-9 over SIM. Final four season for last season's runner-up.
#3 (3-tied) - Central Oklahoma - won 72-0 over SIM. Another team to see what they can do. Second round game could be too difficult to get past, depending on the brackets.
#2 (3-tied) - Humboldt State - won 47-7 over #46 North Dakota. Final four bound...finals if TAMC is on opposite side of the brackets.
#1 (1-tied) - Cheyney - won 62-0 over #16 Missouri-Rolla. Semi-finals is where the season ends for Rockne's #1 seed.
In other worlds the good teams are expected to make it the third round each season. In Rockne with all the good teams, there will be good teams and good coaches that won't get past the second round, and maybe one or two that will see their season ends with their first game.
Lastly, a big thank you to the following coaches for taking the time and submitting their votes for the top ten this season: Jibe, Tmelonhead, Zharkins, Akua29, and Fazbear05.
