Long Island finished the season 18-1. Lost the National Championship 31-21
He entered the season ranked #11 after making it to the second round last season. Long Island ran a balanced Pro-Set and I-Formation offense that would switch between pass and run depending on the game situation. His offense went through RB Shawn Herring who gained 1248 yards rushing and 1906 yards in receiving for a combined 27 touchdowns. Their defense racked up 79 sacks and was anchored by LB Ernest Smith who featured a 70 core rating as a non-redshirt senior!
Long Island pulled off an amazing playoff performance with wins over Presbyterian 41-7, Bloomsburg 47-26, Hillsdale 47-44 (3OT) and Northern Michigan 34-26. They finally were defeated in the National Championship to Texas A&M-Commerce 31-21 who was ranked #1 at the start of the season.
