Smart Dog's Top Ten (10 Games)

This is the opportunity for coaches to determine who are the top ten teams currently in Rockne DII. The top ten will start each season following the five out-of-conference games and continue until the playoffs start. All you have to do is site mail your top ten teams to me by 8 PM CST. Each evening the votes will be computed and the updated top ten will be posted.

Thanks to the additional coaches that submitted their votes today. It was great to see. Coach Akua29 received a triple gold star for providing in-depth comments. Also received some comments for other coaches. I appreciate them and will gladly take them, but just want to ensure coaches know they only have to rank their top ten teams without comments.

#10 - Saint Joseph's - previously unranked - Won 40-21 over #15 Lane. Big game against #4 Morehouse tonight.

#9 - Western New Mexico - previously #9 - Won 57-13 over SIM. Special team but their total team talent is ranked #14. Quality wins over Presbyterian, N. Alabama and Mesa St. They are in a must win situation with Midwestern St. tonight which should prove if they are a quarterfinal + team

#8 - Winona State - previously #8 - Won 45-0 over #98 Southwest Minnesota State. Undefeated regular season is almost a sure thing. Based purely off the talent off the roster, they have the 3rd highest core talent in the league. Not tested yet, not sure if there is a more balanced defense in the league.

#7 - Long Island - previously #5 (tied) - Won 65-0 over SIM. Coach Bigpoppa knows how to win and proves it each season. # 6 - Cheyney - previously #5 (tied) - Won 89-6 over SIM. Top one-loss team. On a collision path with #20 Missouri-Rolla to finish the season.

#5 - Virginia State - previously #3 - Won 54-7 over SIM. Unsure just how good the defending champions are this season. 7th strongest team. Solid built from top to bottom with two play makers each at RB and WR.

#4 - Bloomsburg - previously #7 - Won 49-34 over #12 West Chester. Continues to climb in the polls. Special team here, they repeated again with a win over a solid W. Chester team. They are going quarterfinals+ this season. The coaching is superb because they only rated #19 in overall talent which is why I have them at #7. Scary when coach Jms245 gets a top 5 roster.

#3 - Texas A&M-Commerce - previously #4 - Won 75-0 over SIM. Upcoming game with #21 Angelo State. Very strong defense that's all juniors, double 70's core RB and WR. QB is the weak spot.

#2 - Morehouse - previously #2 - Won 30-14 over SIM. Interesting team. Looking forward to their games against #19 Saint Joseph's and #14 Lane. Fifth highest team core rating and 28 seniors, insane.

#1 - Ferris State - previously #1 - Won 28-17 over #21 Hillsdale. Game plan guru here, doesn't always have the talent but finds a way to outscore his opponent. Coach of the year candidate, doing what he's doing with a down secondary this season
