Game 9 of the Night
Previous GotN Recap:
Prediction: West Chester - 55, Indiana - 10
Result: West Chester - 66, Indiana - 24
Intro/comments/match-up: Indiana kept the game close thru mid-way 3rd quarter only being behind 28-24. From there, it was all West Chester as they scored the last 38 points of the game.
The Game of the Night will be from the Northeast-10 conference with a top-10 match-up with #3 Southern Connecticut going south to take on #7 Long Island.
Team: Southern Connecticut
Coach: Bce98a # of Seasons: 3
Roster Breakdown:
Seniors: 14
Juniors: 10
Sophomores: 13
Freshmen: 13
Offensive Formations: Notre Dame
Defensive Formations: 3-4
Key Wins: East Stroudsburg 65-13, Shepherd 38-30, Northern Michigan 37-30 (2OT), Fairmont St 33-0, Stonehill 62-7.
Losses: N/A
Comments: Coach Bce98a is currently the third coach that entered their 3rd season. Over those 8+ seasons, Southern Connecticut has made the playoffs seven times, but haven't been able to gain a win. A victory tonight sets the team up for the division and a game against Pace for possibly Southern Connecticut first ever conference championship. Team has been fairly balance on offense. When passing the ball is spread around with six players having caught between 20 and 50 passes so far. Defense has a lot of experience with seven seniors and three juniors starting.
Team: Long Island
Coach: Bigpoppa85 # of Seasons: 4
Roster Breakdown:
Seniors: 12
Juniors: 12
Sophomores: 12
Freshmen: 14
Offensive Formations: I, Pro-set, Shotgun, Trips, Wishbone
Defensive Formations: 3-4, 4-4, Dime
Key Wins: Bowie State 33-12, Fairmont St 38-8, Stonehill 55-17
Losses: None
Comments: Coach Bigpoppa85 got his first conference title last season for Long Island. He is coming off back-to-back second round playoff appearances. Just like the balance of his classes, his roster is pretty balance throughout.
Tonight's Prediction: This should be heck of a game. Both coaches are improving their teams and are establishing a nice rivalry for the Northeast-10 East division. I see this team going deep into the 4th before being decided with Long Island edging out a close 31-28 win.
