Smart Dog's Top Ten

I figured it was time Rockne starts their own top ten ranking. I have no idea how the press and the coaches's polls come up with their rankings. WIS is fine but too much emphasis is put on strength of schedule.

So what I'm going to do is start this off with my top ten and will continue to update it each evening until the playoffs start. Now comes the part you can play in this adventure. I'll take any site mail messages to me by 8 PM CST and count them into the rankings on an even basis. For example if I have a team in my rankings 4th and another coach has them 7th and a third coach has them 10th, then that team would average 7.0 and would be ranked based upon where their score falls. So now your chance to be involved. There's no commitment to do it every day, just when you have time. Also just need your rankings, no additional comments are necessary.

#10 - Bloomsburg - Team that is getting better each season. Top ten roster. Wins over Valdosta State and Presbyterian.

#9 - Northern Michigan - yes their schedule hasn't been overwhelming and they have one loss, but their roster is still one of the top 3.

#8 - Humboldt State - another team with one loss (Cheyney). Roster is tough but lacking the red-shirt senior QB. On the plus side, a coach who has won it all in different worlds.

#7 - Western New Mexico - Mid-teens roster ranking and solid victories over Glenville, Presbyterian, North Alabama, and Mesa State.

#6 - Virginia State - Defending champions, new coach, team keeps rolling. Top 10 roster and wins against human coached teams ranked 37, 40, 46, 55, and 66.

#5 - Southern Connecticut - Tough schedule but still undefeated with wins over East Stroudsburg, Shepherd, Northern Michigan and Fairmont State. Roster still needs improving but can't complain about the results so far.

# 4 - Cheyney - Wins over Edinboro, Humboldt St, and West Chester and a 20 point loss to Ferris State. One of the top rosters, but with red-shirt junior QB leading the way.

#3 - Ferris State - Wins over Cheyney and Saginaw Valley St. Experienced coach.

#2 - Morehouse - Two big victories with different type game plans plus 28 seniors. Tough, very tough.

#1 - Texas A&M-Commerce - three "plus" victories + top 7 roster + championship winning coach = top spot.
