Game 3 of the Night
Previous GotN Recap:
Prediction: Western New Mexico - 28, Glenville - 16
Result: Western New Mexico 41 - Glenville 10
Intro/comments/match-up: Glenville was able to keep it close throughout the first half by being behind only 14-10. Western New Mexico took over the second half by skunking Glenville 27-0. WNM passed their first test, but will have a much tougher opponent tonight as SAC tries to avenge this loss by having current #9 Presbyterian try their luck against coach Tmelonhead's squad.
Tonight, we are featuring a match-up that was the second GotN game ever back in season 135. These two coaches will be playing against each other for the fifth time in a relatively short period of time. Both coaches took over successful programs and have been able to keep their teams as legitimate threats for the title. We are going back to Pennsylvania for a top match-up with #14 Ferris State visiting #5 Cheyney.
Team: Ferris State
Coach: Coachoatie # of Seasons: 7
Roster Breakdown:
Seniors: 13
Juniors: 14
Sophomores: 6
Freshmen: 17
Offensive Formations: I
Defensive Formations: 4-3
Key Wins: Kentucky State 29-0
Losses: N/A
Comments: Coachoatie has one national championship and two conference titles so far during his time at Ferris State. Team is coming off a successful 16-2 campaign that ended in the semi-finals and a #3 ranking. Coach will be looking to stop a pattern that would have his team lose in the second round this season. During his reign, Coachoatie has finished 14 - 1 - 12 - 5 - 16 - 3 - ??? The team is stacked again with six seniors starting on both offense and defense. The offensive line has all junior starters and the defensive backfield has three juniors and a sophomore. Will those two positions pose problems this season? Tonight's game may give Coachoatie an answer to that question.
Team: Cheyney
Coach: Waregl72 # of Seasons: 6
Roster Breakdown:
Seniors: 14
Juniors: 12
Sophomores: 12
Freshmen: 12
Offensive Formations: I
Defensive Formations: Nickel
Key Wins: Edinboro 55-14
Losses: N/A
Comments: Coach Waregl72 will try to reverse the trend that Cheyney has been on since he took over. After making it to the championship game his first two seasons (winning once), he then had respectable semi-finals losses the next two seasons, followed by a disappointing second round loss last season. Team is well balanced although the "smart dog" automatically has concerns whenever the team doesn't have a red-shirt senior at QB. Cheyney has a red-shirt junior QB this season. On defense, the line is stacked with four seniors and two juniors. The possible weak point could be the secondary IF a team can get past the starters that has two seniors, two juniors, and a sophomore.
Tonight's Prediction: The "smart dog" will be paying close attention to this game since he hasn't figure out how to beat Ferris State yet. Coach Waregl72 is currently 1-3 against Coachoatie. Cheyney impressive win over Edinboro is the difference as "smart dog" decides to go with Cheyney tonight in a close 28-24 victory.
