Game 8 of the Night

What a 3-game stretch. Two one-point wins and an overtime. Edinboro and West Chester played an epic game. First half had 3 lead changes and finished with Edinboro holding a slim 21-20 lead. It looked like West Chester was taking control of the game by scoring two touchdowns in the first ten minutes of the second half. But with just 32 seconds left in the third quarter Edinboro got back into the game with a touchdown cutting the West Chester lead to 34-28. Midway thru the 4th, Edinboro was driving when their QB threw a costly interception. A few plays later, the West Chester RB returned the favor with a game changing fumble. From that point Edinboro went down and scored for the 35-34 lead. West Chester had two more chances to pull out a win. The first ended with a missed 48-yard field goal. The second ended with the clock running out after they got a new 1st and 10 at Edinboro's 39-yard line. Whew!!!

On a side note Akua, along with coach of the year, maybe we can add game of the year too.

Now to tonight's GofN. We are going to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference for a game that will also serve as a preview for their conference championship. #13 West Liberty State travels to Minnesota to take on #15 Winona State.

Coach Jibe is in his third season and has the team off to an impressive 7-0 start. Although the wins haven't been against top 10 teams, the wins include four against human-coached teams that are currently ranked #28, #32, #38, and #55. Coach Jibe is what I would called an experienced coach with almost 18,000 games played. He is playing Trips and Shotgun on offense and 3-4 and Nickel on defense. Not counting QB scrambles, he has run the ball 13 times so far thru 7 games. Of note, two of those carries were by the TE. Needless to say, this teams throws the ball with 502 attempts so far. His team is on the rise and could become a top 10 team next season since he currently has four seniors on offense and another three on defense.

Since season 132, Winona State has had four different coaches with Coach Gabby123 taking over this season. He has the team off to a 6-1 start with only an opening season overtime loss against #4 Hillsdale. Coack Gabby123 is running Pro-Set and 3-4 formations. This is another team that is really set up for next season with six seniors and 21 juniors.

The "smart dog" is not going to out-think himself this time. My first indication was Winona State and I'm staying with it. Winona State wins 21-20.
