Game 3 of the Night
What a day!!! First the "smart dog" runs his regular season prediction record to 2-0 as Cheyney wins the PA bedlam game. More on that later. Then, although early and meaningless, the "voters" made Hillsdale #1 in D2. Will the road to the title run thru Michigan? Yes, but unfortunately for the Chargers, the road is in northern Michigan. Then real-life and #4 MSU escapes in OT 45-42 over Tarleton State. After that it was the real bedlam game and it lived up to its name as OU holds on to beat OSU 62-52. And lastly, UFC 217 is on.
My thanks to Cheyney as they scored twice in the last five minutes to win 55-26. Why is that important? Just like Game 1, the "smart dog" was off by just one in the point spread. Looking back at the game, the statistics would suggest it was a much closer game than the final score suggest.
Since it's early in the season, the Game of the Night is going in a slightly different direction by providing the spotlight on two new coaches that are getting started building their teams. Since both teams are 2-0 and I like to focus on teams that haven't appeared on GotN segment, we have Central Arkansas from the Gulf South conference traveling north to play North Dakota from the North Central Intercollegiate Athletic conference.
Central Arkansas has coach Seahawkr13 entering his second season. He took over a team that finished ranked 128 before he took over. On offense, he is staying with the triplet of I, Pro-Set, and Trips. On defense, he has the 4-3 and Nickel. Central Arkansas is coming off a convincing 37-23 win over another human-coached team. Looks like coach Seahawkr13 has the team going in the right direction. Even though they aren't ready to unseat Valdosta State, I see a really good chance for them to enter into the playoff rounds this season.
At North Dakota, coach Cole lou is in his first season. He got the team off to a good start beating both SIM teams so far. This will be a good test to see if they can challenge for the playoffs in his first season. Coach runs the triplets on both sides; I, Pro-Set, and Trips on offense and 4-3, Nickel, and Dime on defense.
Once everything is done, the extra season coach Seahawkr13 has will be the difference as Central Arkansas wins 24-16.
