Game 10 of the Night
Having a little extra time as I am watching UFC, I went back and tracked all the previous game of the nights. One thing I noticed was there were several times the GotN was same from last season to this season. I won't totally shy away from it, but I am going to avoid repeat match-ups from one season to the next.
Tonight's game going to feature two new teams to the GotN feature. Combined, there teams records are a combined 15-3. We are travelling to the land of country music and the SIAC for an interesting game as #21 Morehouse takes on #36 Lane.
Morehouse is being ran by Coach Sportsdouche who is in his 4th season. From what I can determined, he been at the D2 level for only these four seasons. Prior to that he has spent many seasons in D3, both before and after the last major program change. Before taking over, Morehouse has been ran by Sim for the previous 15 seasons. He was able to get the team into the playoffs during his first two seasons, but then finished out last season finishing with a 7-6 record. He is looking to returning this season and a win tonight should be good enough to do it.
Coach Sportsdouche runs the Pro-Set and 4-3 formations. His team is extremely light on seniors with just four players, but 23 sophomores. Interesting, he has red-shirted three juniors which will make the sophomore's class even bigger.
At Lane, Coach Bofreedom is in his second season. He takes over from Sim who been coaching for the last 30 seasons. The coach is an experienced coach with 1990 victories. Lane is coming off a tough 24-21 loss to #12 St Joseph's and probably needs to run the table to ensure their entrance into the playoffs.
Coach Bofreedom runs Pro-Set also, but goes with 3-4, 4-4, and Nickel on defense. His offense is extremely balance with 343 pass attempts and 357 rush attempts.
This is an interesting game to choose from. Does the "smart dog" go with the more established coach but only has four seniors and has a good win and a bad loss this season? Or do I take a team that needs the win and almost beat the #12 team and has 14 seniors, but all SIMs. Pick here is Lane 31, Morehouse 23.
