Game 8 of the Night

The season is now hitting the middle point. One more game and then teams start their push for the division title and a chance to win the conference trophy. It is also the time to start counting down the number of undefeated teams left. Currently, there are 14 teams with the mighty GLIAC leading the way with three 7-0 teams.

For tonight's game we are traveling to west Texas for an all-Texas affair when Tarleton State Texans (not much originality or imagination in Stephenville) travels to play the Rams of Angelo State in beautiful San Angelo.

Coach Munchnugget is in his 6th season at Tarleton St. He has made a couple of playoff appearances so far. He runs Trips on offense and both 4-3 and 3-4 on defense. After 7 games, his team has attempted just 10 passes. Tonight's game will give up a better indication of where Tarleton St is this season since their six wins have been against less than impressive opponents while is one loss was a 52-0 spanking from the defending champs.

Angelo St has their 4th coach in the past five seasons. Coach Joeydefone is in the early stages of his WIS career. Although his practice plans has his players learning I, Pro-Set, and Trips on offense and 4-3, Nickel, and Dime on defense, the one game I looked at has Angelo St playing just Pro-Set and 4-3.

The game is interesting since both coaches are relatively inexperience (but then we all were there at one point is our careers). Both teams seem to want to run the ball; although Tarleton State takes it to the extreme. In a game that goes back to the early WIS days, the Rams out-rushed the Texans and pull out a 19-15 victory.
