Game 5 of the Night

I start off with an apology to coach Tutank and St Joseph's.  Their game tonight against Hillsdale probably deserves to be the game, but isn't since I don't like to write about myself.

The initial WIS rankings have some surprises since they are based on strength of schedule.  As teams go thru their conference schedules, some teams will start shooting up in the rankings.  Tonight's game is going to be two teams that are currently outside the top 25.  That being said, I fully expect both of them to finish inside the top 20, if not the top 15 before the season ends.   The Game of the Night is Midwestern State at Shepherd.

Coach Linux Box was able to bounce back from a tough loss to now number 1 Cheyney.  His defense looks extremely tough as MSU comes off a 44-0 win against Emporia State.

Shepherd is coach by Dawgnuts who is in his 64th season.  I wonder if the college has a statue of Dawgnuts on its campus?

Coach Dawgnuts runs Pro-Set and Trips on offense and 3-4 and Nickel on defense.  His team has 17 seniors on its roster and should make a strong run towards winning the conference title this season.

This game will be one to start figuring out the legitimate contenders this season.  MSU with one loss already surely don't want a second one this early.  Shepherd with two tough games coming up in the three days following this day don't want to go into conference play with a loss.  The pick here is Shepherd 17, MSU 16.
