Four seasons ago, Texas A&M-Commerce made the National Championship game after barely squeaking by St. Joseph's 33-28. They faced a giant of a team in Northern Michigan who dismantled them 59-13 and sent them home determined they will make it back. The next two seasons, they lost in the semi-finals.

The next season, it was Ferris State that knocked out TAMC in the semi-finals 62-27 to go on and win the National Championship over Cheyney 45-31. They struggled the next season with an early 2nd round playoff lose, but rebounded this season, knocking out Northern Michigan to win the Conference Championship. After winning Saginaw Valley St 30-23 in the Semi-Finals, they found themselves in a rematch versus TAMC.

In the first quarter, both teams struggled to get much movement on their drives. Texas went a total of 6 plays for 7 yards on two opening drives versus FSU who managed 11 plays for 33 yards. However, that's when things changed as Texas then scored touchdowns on the next 3 drives.

It was a big day on the ground for the Lions with RB Matthew Hall scoring on a 18 yard run. Then it was RB Eric Todd who took it 35 yards to put TAMC up 14-0. Ferris St. continued to struggle going 5 consecutive series without scoring until they finally found the endzone. With 1:47 left on the clock, FSU capitalized on field position and put together 6 play 45 yard drive that RB Edward Chambers rushed up the middle for 4 yards and the touchdown. The half was 21-7 Texas A&M-Commerce.

The 2nd half went much of the same way as the Texas defense continued to dominate ending the last 6 series for FSU in either a punt or the time ran out. In the 3rd quarter, it was a 11 play 83 yard drive for a touchdown that put TAMC up 31-7 and the hope for come back was over. For the 2nd half, the TAMC allowed on 24 plays only 54 total yards. TAMC's offense managed to put up another 16 points with long play drives that ended with scores on 4 out of 5 series. 47 plays for 232 yards and almost 22 minutes of game clock.

It was a challenge to make it back to this point and there are no easy wins in the Rockne playoffs. They were able to get big wins over teams who knocked them out of the playoffs the last three seasons.

Their RB Matthew Hall was the season MVP putting up huge playoff game numbers for 260 yards, 379 yards and 224 yards in the NC. 3,127 rushing yards and 45 TD's on the ground.
